<p>Der <b>Fiat Multipla</b> ist ein von Januar 1999 bis Februar 2010 gebauter <a href="Van_(Automobil)" title="Van (Automobil)">Van</a> des italienischen Herstellers <a href="Fiat_S.p.A." title="Fiat S.p.A.">Fiat</a>. Die Plattform und die Motoren des Multipla entstammen der zugehörigen Kompaktklasse, dem <a href="Fiat_Bravo" title="Fiat Bravo">Fiat Bravo</a>.

</p>

<div class="mw-heading mw-heading2"><h2 id="Merkmale">Merkmale</h2></div>

<p>Als besonderes Merkmal hatte der Multipla eine abgesetzte Leiste direkt unter der Frontscheibe. In diese Leiste waren die Scheinwerfer für das Fernlicht sowie mittig das Fiat-Logo mit fünf Strichen eingebaut. Ab Anfang 2001 wurde das Emblem mit dem Wort FIAT in einem Lorbeerkranz verwendet.<sup id="cite_ref-motor1-199925_2-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-motor1-199925-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

</p><p>Neben dem Design ist auch das Innenraumkonzept von einer Auffälligkeit bestimmt. Wie auch der später eingeführte <a href="Honda_FR-V" title="Honda FR-V">Honda FR-V</a> hat der Multipla sechs Einzelsitze in zwei Reihen. Er konnte ab Werk entweder mit sechs Einzelplätzen oder mit fünf Plätzen und einer eingebauten Multifunktionsbox einschließlich Kühlbox zwischen den beiden Vordersitzen bestellt werden.<sup id="cite_ref-motor1-199925_2-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-motor1-199925-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

</p><p>Die Karosserie des Multipla basierte auf einem stählernen Space-Frame-Konzept, das Fiat entwickelt hatte. Diese Konstruktionsweise verursacht zwar höhere Stückkosten in der Fertigung, erfordert aber wesentlich weniger Investitionen in die Fertigungsanlagen und ist schnell an unterschiedliche Karosserieformen anzupassen. Deswegen eignet sie sich gut dafür, Varianten in kleineren Stückzahlen zu fertigen. Der Multipla war das erste Fahrzeug nach diesem Konstruktionsmuster, danach folgten der <a href="Fiat_Stilo" title="Fiat Stilo">Fiat Stilo</a> und die neue Version des <a href="Fiat_Bravo" title="Fiat Bravo">Fiat Bravo</a>.

</p><p>Hinzu kommt eine Besonderheit bei der Motorisierung: Der Multipla konnte neben den klassischen Verbrennungsmotoren für Benzin oder Diesel auch als <i>BluPower</i> (ab Mitte 2004: <i>Natural Power</i>) mit einem rein erdgasbetriebenen Motor und vier Druckflaschen am Wagenunterboden oder als <i>BiPower</i> mit <a href="Hybridantrieb#Bivalente_Antriebe" title="Hybridantrieb">Hybridantrieb</a> gekauft werden. In der letztgenannten Variante wird er mit Erdgas aus drei Druckflaschen am Wagenunterboden oder mit Benzin betrieben. Durch den erweiterten Platzbedarf für den Benzintank wird in diesem Fall der Kofferraum durch ein Reserverad eingeschränkt, das in allen anderen Modellen unter dem Kofferraum versenkt ist. Da der bivalente Motor auf Benzinverbrennung eingestellt sein muss, verliert er etwas an Leistung, wenn er mit Erdgas betrieben wird.

<p>Im Juni 2004 kam der Multipla in Italien (in Deutschland im September 2004) mit überarbeiteter Karosserieform auf den Markt. Der charakteristische Absatz zwischen Motorhaube und Windschutzscheibe fiel weg.<sup id="cite_ref-motor1-199925_2-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-motor1-199925-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<p>Im April 2006 gab es weitere kleinere Umstellungen im Multipla. Neue Stoffe und eine überarbeitete Instrumentengrafik sollten den Van aufwerten.

</p><p>Der Vertrieb in Deutschland wurde Anfang 2008 beendet, die Produktion des Multipla in Italien wurde im Februar 2010 eingestellt.<sup id="cite_ref-motor1-199925_2-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-motor1-199925-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

</p><p>Zwischen 2010 und 2013 wurde der Multipla noch in Lizenz vom chinesischen Automobilhersteller <a href="Zotye_International" title="Zotye International">Zotye</a> als <a href="Elektroauto" title="Elektroauto">Elektroauto</a> Zotye M300 gebaut.<sup id="cite_ref-autobild-176109_3-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-autobild-176109-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<p>Die erste Version des Multipla Bipower wurde in der Ausstellung <i>Different Roads. Automobiles for the Next Century</i> vom 22. Juli bis 21. September 1999 im <a href="Museum_of_Modern_Art" title="Museum of Modern Art">Museum of Modern Art</a> in New York ausgestellt.<sup id="cite_ref-6" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-6"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Die Ausstellung zeigte laut MoMA neun innovative Automobile, die die wachsenden sozialen, ökonomischen und ökologischen Probleme der Automobilindustrie im 21. Jahrhundert lösen könnten.<sup id="cite_ref-7" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-7"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<p>Zwischen 1999 und 2008 sind in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland insgesamt 21.925 Fiat Multipla neu zugelassen worden. Mit 7.528 Einheiten war 1999 das erfolgreichste Verkaufsjahr.
